Illustration for Parametric Structural Studies

Status: Experiment. This page describes the goal and approach; it will be updated as work is verified.

Engineering context

Early structural decisions — grid spacing, bay sizes, core positions — shape everything after them, yet only a few options are usually studied because each one takes time to model.

Challenge

Make it practical to generate and compare a family of layouts from one set of parameters, with consistent assumptions across all of them.

Workflow

  1. Define the layout as parameters: grid, bays, storeys, core position.
  2. Generate variants consistently from those parameters.
  3. Run comparable analyses and collect the same outputs for each.
  4. Present results side by side for engineering judgement.

Automation created

Experimental scripts for generating layout variants. To be documented when the approach is stable.

Tools used

  • Python
  • ETABS

Outcome

Experiment. Findings will be shared only when they are reproducible.

Limitations and scope

A comparison aid for early studies — not a substitute for detailed design.
